Freezing in Puerto Rico

Last night I arrived and made it to my hotel safe and sound. I froze my butt off on the airplane so I was wanting a heater when i got off the plane.   i hopped in the cab with the air conditioner cranked and then came to the hotel with the air conditioner cranked.   i met my roomate Mark and he had the room like a refrigerator.  i had no idea I was going to freeze my  butt off when i got here.   i slept in full gear and a fleece pull over.  i was chilled to the bone all night.   The room was like a meat locker and I was the meat.  

This morning Mark was even bitching about it.   We could not figure out how to get the air off so we just opened up all the windows and went out on the patio to thaw out in a tiny spot of sun.   we got our run gear and met two other really neat people from Houston.    We had breakfast and then headed out for a run to warm up.   I was on a red bull search.  i lvoe to have a sugar free red bull when I wake up.  it is a habit from RAAM and I dont plan to give it up.   I was freaking out after stopping in 3 stores  and not finding any.  We finally found some but ended up getting about an 8 mile run in….not sure it it was such a good idea before this 375 mile bike tour but it felt good.   It was nice to run in the sun along the beach with the sound of the crashing waves.  

We came back to shower.  the room was a meat locker.  We both had chicken skin (goose bumps) within  a few minutes.   i went to turn the shower on and it never warmed up.   We had tried to turn the air conditioner off by taking the card that runs the electricity out of teh holder.   WE thought maybe that was why the water was not warming up so we put it back in and the air came back on.  We were doomed.  the water never warmed up.  i ahd one of those miserable showesrs that you just hate.    i got out cold as a popcicle and then mark got in for more his torture treatment.   The room was a tiled floor so I found myself putting my dirty socks on just to try to warm my feet up.  We went out for a bike ride later and got warmed up.  

This afternoon Mark found the remote to the air conditioner.  We also discovered that we had the shower turned the wrong direction. Mark is blond too.  We got our packets and weent to the carbo load party.   i ate and came back to the room to study and blog.     mark is still out having Sangria with the Houston bunch but I was in more if a chill out mode.

I am now visiting with friend got to go.
